About The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is a fairytale about a young mermaid princess who is finally granted her wish to visit the world above the sea. She sees a large ship sinking in a storm and decides to save one of the passengers. He turns out to be a prince, and she falls in love with him. The mermaid must now sacrifice everything to be with her beloved prince, but will it be enough?

About the author
Danish author and poet Hans Christian Andersen (1802-1875) was particularly known for his many children’s stories. The most famous of his fairytales are The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Tinderbox, The Princess on the Pea, The Snow Queen, Thumbelina, The Nightingale, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, and The Little Match Girl – but there are many, many more. His works have been translated into more than 150 languages and have inspired generations of authors, as well as resulted in everything from plays to animated films. In short, he is one of the most beloved and famous writers of children’s stories of all time. Hans Christian Andersen was known not only for his fondness of the childhood world and its wonders, but also for writing himself and his beliefs into some of his fairytales. For instance, The Ugly Duckling is widely accepted as the story of his own claim to fame after a childhood of poverty.
